I don Serve Naija
Na for orientation camp, e come clear me for eye
Sey this service thing no be beans at all.
But I standa gidigba, onto sey Baba God dey my side.
Na so I pour myself give di village school wey dem sentence me go.
When I finish university, I go back my papa house,
come dey check NYSC website everyday, so tey
Na only khaki I dey see for my dream.
E sweet me well-well when dem tell me sey na for Otondo I go serve.
I no send sey di villagers poor or dem be illiterates.
Reason am yourself: why I for dey collect allowee when I no dey work?
I don serve, under sun, under rain. I don serve Naija!
I finish my service with dance and smile,
But as I lie down ontop this bamboo for my mama hut. I dey wonder:
My labour for Naija go dey rewarded,
abi I go still dey hustle till I die?
I don serve Naija, but mek she follow serve me too.
Me, I don tire to dey hear yeye promises every four-four years,
I don serve Naija, mek she follow serve me.
